What information the extension uses
The extension uses only the VIN that a user enters into the popup.
How the extension uses that information
The extension uses the entered VIN for two purposes:
- To request VIN decode data from the NHTSA vPIC API at https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/
- To open a Zilocar vehicle history report link when the user clicks "See full history report"
If the user clicks the Zilocar link, the VIN is included in the destination URL:

What the extension does not do
- It does not require account creation or sign-in
- It does not store VINs in extension storage
- It does not run in the background
- It does not read content from web pages
- It does not collect browsing history
- It does not sell user data
Third-party services
The extension sends the VIN to the following third-party services only when triggered by the user:
- NHTSA vPIC API for VIN decoding
- Zilocar when the user clicks the history-report button
Each service handles requests under its own terms and privacy practices.
